Collins was a four-star wide receiver at Clay-Chalkville high school in Pinson, Alabama. Collins ranked as high as the No. 21 wide receiver nationally and as the No. 5 ranked player in the state of Alabama, depending on the recruiting service, in the class of 2017. 

He played wide receiver in high school, helping lead Clay-Chalkville to the 2014 Alabama 6A state title. He totaled 103 receptions for 1,968 receiving yards and 25 touchdowns over his final two high school seasons while also playing on his school's basketball team.
