Goff was a four-star quarterback at Marin Catholic High School. Goff was the eighth-ranked pro-style quarterback in the class of 2013 and No. 15 player overall in the state of California depending on the recruiting service.

In three varsity seasons, Goff completed 62.2 percent of his passes for 7,687 yards and 93 touchdowns with 18 interception, while leading his team to a 39-4 overall record, three county titles and one state championship game appearance.
