The regular season is over and conference championships are looming. Let's recap some of the top individual cross country performances before we head into the postseason.
Men's top performers
Arkansas' Kirami Yego — Chile Pepper Festival
Kirami Yego won by 22.2 seconds, nearly matching the gap he won at the Chile Pepper Festival last year. It was a dominant performance from the Razorback.
Oklahoma State's Brian Musau — Cowboy Jamboree
Brian Musau set a course record during the Cowboy Jamboree in 22:55.6. Musau beat runners like Habtom Samuel and members of his own, loaded team in the win.
New Mexico's Habtom Samuel — Pre-Nationals
Habtom Samuel won the Pre-Nationals by resetting the record at the Thomas Zimmer Championship Cross Country Course. With the record already falling once this year, Samuel beat the record by almost 25 seconds in 22:38.8.
North Carolina's Parker Wolfe — Nuttycombe Invitational
Parker Wolfe was the first to set a course record in Wisconsin, finishing in 23:04.0 at the Nuttycombe Invitational. Wolfe broke the previous record by 5 seconds.
Utah Valley's Mohamed Guled — Roy Griak Invitational
Mohamed Guled won the Roy Griak by 5.9 seconds, finishing in 24:55.3. Guled ran his best during the middle of the race as he moved from seventh to first from the 3K to 5K meter mark.
Washington State's Evans Kurui — WSU Cougar Classic
Evans Kurui won the WSU Cougar Classic by almost 55 seconds, setting a course record with a 22:46.7 finish. It was only Kurui's second meet of his freshman season.
Women's top performers
Alabama's Doris Lemngole — Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational
Doris Lemngole won the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational by 16.6 seconds in 18:48.2. Lemngole's performance also helped carry her team to a win past defending champ NC State.
Auburn's Brenda Jepchirchir — Gans Creek Classic
Brenda Jepchirchir won an exciting race at the Gans Creek Classic. In a race where the runner-up also broke the course record, the Auburn freshman won by 3.6 seconds.
Clemson's Judy Kosgei — Adidas XC Challenge
Judy Kosgei won the women's race at the Adidas XC Challenge in 16.11.1. Kosegei won by more than six seconds over a field that featured runners of defending champ NC State.
New Mexico's Pamela Kosgei — Pre-Nationals
Pamela Kosgei is only a freshman, but at Pre-Nationals she beat plenty of veterans. Her time of 18:59.1 set a new course record.
UConn's Chloe Thomas — Paul Short Run
Chloe Thomas set a course record by 10 seconds in 19:23.8 at the Paul Short Run. Thomas won the race by over 30 seconds.
Villanova's Sadie Sigfstead — Nuttycombe Invitational
Sadi Sigfstead won the 2024 women's Nuttycombe by 7.5 seconds. She used a strong final 2K meters to win the elite race.
